Unvented / Powerflushing / Rates
Unvented hot water storage systems are becoming increasingly popular due to their mains water pressure performance without the need of a noisy boosting pump. Also, because the water is mains fed, it potentially eliminates the need for any stored water within the loft, which could freeze, creating widescale damage. Insurance companies actually reduce your household premiums if you declare that you have no stored water in the loft! Subject to incoming mains water supply pressure, these Unvented units are not cheap but they provide a great solution for two bathroom households, or bathroom plus shower-room used simultaneously. Heat loss is practically eliminated due to their superb insulation and outer shell which is cold to the touch. As with everything, you get what you pay for as some unvented cylinders are far superior to others. We only tend to fit the more expensive stainless steel units due to their quicker heat recovery, very long guarantee and anti-scale design. Power-flushing Every boiler replacement requires a full system power-flush using a special flushing chemical, in accordance with "Benchmark" and British Standards recommendations. Although all contractors state that they power-flush, many do not or don't do it properly. We power-flush every system using a state of the art Norstrom or Fernox flushing devices, combined with a commercial Magnaclean dual magnetic flushing unit. You will be amazed how much magnatite (sludge) is removed as you can see the results. We power-flush in strict accordance with British Standards and Benchmark recommendations using a TDS meter and certificate to record every circuit or radiator test result and only using the best system chemicals. Our machines are capable of handling large 4/5 storey houses as well as large commercial installations, whereas many companies only use cheap machines that will only be capable of a 2 storey domestic house. Don't be fooled by inexperienced & unqualified "plumbers" who state that every system needs occasional power-flushing as this is not true, also don't accept that if your system is running badly or you have leaking radiators a power-flush will resolve it. The cause of the problem must be found and rectified first, which is generally due to bad plumbing, poor system design or incorrect pump position, or a combination of these. Simply power-flushing will only help in the short term but the problem will re-occur. Our success rate is over 99.99% with well over 500 power-flushes carried out and only 1 required problem re-flush in over 17 years, which was undertaken completely free of charge, our success rate far exceeds the average which is between 90-95% success rate. If you have been advised by your boiler manufacturer or heating engineer that a power-flush is required, shop around. Our cost for a typical 9 radiator system is from £350.00 plus VAT, which is generally 50% off British Gas estimates. We charge £35.00 plus VAT for each radiator thereafter and this cost includes all chemicals required, full TDS testing and certification on completion. You may find a company cheaper than us but they will not undertake the task as thoroughly and probably will not have the expertise to identify & diagnose the underlying problem(s).
